Are there dry wines at Bodegas Quitapenas? The answer is yes. And in this blog, we'll show you which ones they are so you can surprise your guests with some unique dry wines.
We dedicated a post to this topic some time ago because many people still ask us if Bodegas Quitapenas makes dry wines. The truth is, we've been offering a variety of wines for over six years that goes far beyond our renowned sweet wines.
What are dry wines?
When we hear about a "dry wine," we're referring to a wine that isn't sweet, meaning it contains very little or no residual sugar from the grapes. During its production, the yeasts transform all the grape sugar into alcohol.
How is a dry white wine made?
It begins with the fermentation of grape must completely to remove almost all the sugar. Unlike red wines, the juice is fermented without the grape skins or seeds. In white wines, contact with the skins is usually minimal to avoid extracting color and tannins.
Then it continues with the muddywhich consists of obtaining a clean must by means of decantation or cold, to separate the must from the remains of skin, seeds or pulp.
In the alcoholic fermentation, Yeasts are added, which transform the natural sugars in the must into alcohol and carbon dioxide. This fermentation is usually carried out at controlled temperatures (between 12 and 18 °C) to preserve the fruity and floral aromas.
Aging is an optional step that is carried out once fermentation is complete.
And finally, before bottling, the wine is clarified and stabilized to remove impurities and ensure that it retains its properties during its marketing.

The GuadalvinA smooth and easy-drinking red wine. Ideal with a meal, from lamb to lasagna. Or why not, a small plate of aged cheese. It pairs perfectly.
The Ernite Estate A red wine aged for six months in French and American oak barrels, making it more complex than Guadalvin, yet retaining the freshness of a young red. Like all red wines, its perfect pairing is, of course, meat, but this time we're suggesting another ideal match: dark chocolate. Try it with one from our favorite Malaga bakery: maychoco.
